Nominations are now being accepted for the annual Ray Thomas Award.
The Community Service Award is met to recognize Muskingum County volunteers who've made a significant contribution to the area - just like Ray Thomas did.
"He was the person in the community you couldn't say no to," said Muskingum County Community Foundation's Executive Director David Mitzel. "He was extremely beneficial to all the organizations, he was involved with a lot of charities."
The award recipient will receive a $1,000 grant to the charity of their choice and have their name added to a plaque. In addition, a new tradition this year will honor Ray Thomas' passion for wood carving.
"Ray Thomas would give all the staff of the Foundation a piece of his wonderful artistry of wood each Christmas," said Mitzel. "So we will be giving an original Ray Thomas piece to each of the Ray Thomas Award winners."
If you'd like to enter a nomination for the award, visit www.mccf.org or call 740-453-5192.
The deadline for all applications is March 22nd at 5 p.m. The award winner will be chosen by the Foundation's Distribution Committee.
