The Zanesville Lady Devils' Boosters are supporting more than just their high school sports teams.
During Senior Night on Saturday, the boosters sold the remaining "For The Love of Lainey" tee shirts that support a three-year-old girl born with a congenital heart disease. Lainey's mother Natasha said she was thrilled when the boosters asked to help with the fundraiser.
"We did it last year, and then we decided that we're going to do it every year to basically show Lainey that we're helping other families, that are like her as well, and research for anybody who has a heart condition," said Natasha.
Natasha also said that almost eight-hundred dollars was raised at the game on Tuesday, bringing the total to about four-thousand dollars so far. The family hopes to surpass last year's total of seven-thousand dollars to benefit other children in need.
"So we're not raising money for her, she's probably going to have another surgery here soon, and we'll figure out how to deal with that, but really we just want to raise money for the american heart association for everybody that needs research," said Natasha.
The family will continue to raise money over the next month. For more information, or to make a donation to the American Heart Association, visit http://cincinnati.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=482186&supid=319713370.
