John Glenn's gymnasium was full of spirit Sunday afternoon...
The high school hosted a cheer competition for over 50 area schools and all-star teams. John Glenn coach Lindsay Abbott said this competition is something her team looks forward to every year.
"Our girls and our teams usually practice extra, beyond what we do for games. Sometimes we go to local gyms to work on our tumbling skills, and then we just, you know, add an extra practice on to get ready for each individual competition," said Abbott.
The cheerleaders ranged from elementary to high school students. Abbott said she enjoyed seeing the skill levels of each age group.
"So far, so good. Everything's running very smoothly and the teams look excellent. We got to watch them on the open mat tumbling, where each team got to warm up their tumbling, and there are definitely some elite tumbling skills to show off today," said Abbott.
About 1,500 people attended Sunday's competition.
