Gusty Winds Causing Problems in Zanesville

It is a wild end to the week after high winds blow through Zanesville and the rest of Ohio.

The National Weather Service says a Wind Advisory remains in effect for much of the state.

The strong winds knocked out power to homes, businesses and some traffic signals causing minor problems.

Zanesville Police Chief Eric Lambes said motorists need to remember what to do when signals go out.

"Ohio law is very clear about traffic signals," Said Lambes. "If a traffic signal is not working, that intersection becomes a four-way stop. Every vehicle approaching that area must stop, and then yield to the vehicle on the right, and proceed as if there were four stop signs there instead of the traffic light."

Despite the problems it caused, the wind made for some pleasant viewing for some people.

The 30'x60' American flag that stands at American Pride Power Equipment on McIntire Avenue could be seen fully stretched out.

President Ryan Dodson said he's been enjoying the sight of old glory all day.

"It's straight out today, and it's cool, I was out there taking pictures earlier, and we got those up on our website and facebook to check out," said Dodson.
