Hundreds of teenage girls are going to prom in style thanks to the generosity of the community...
Eastside Community Ministry presented the "Once Upon A Prom Dress" Giveaway Sunday at the Muskingum County Welcome Center. Eastside's Program Committee Chairman Sally Goins said the facility was full of gowns, and she's grateful for the support.
"I think the community has just really gotten behind it. You know, a prom dress is something that typically you only use one time, and so why shouldn't somebody else get the joy out of it? Because, they're beautiful dresses," said Goins.
The event was completely free, and more than 100 girls had picked out their gowns within the first hour.
"Well, I got here about 11. There were already people lined up. They had, the first ones, I guess, got here at 7:30. We have, uh, 700 dresses...Which is crazy."
Eastside also accepted food donations for the pantry during the event.
