A car caught fire following a crash Wednesday evening in Zanesville.
It happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Marietta Street.
According to Sgt. Chris Phipps, the vehicle was headed south bound on Wayne Avenue when it veered off the side of the road and struck a light pole.
Witnesses of the accident who reported the crash said the driver and passenger fled the scene.
Sgt. Phipps says officers spoke to the driver who claims another car went left-of-center and she swerved to avoid a collision. The driver also told officers she left the scene to go home to call police.
No one was injured.
Authorities are still investigating the crash, and Phipps says citations are likely.
