Fire Destroys Barn On Arch Hill Road

Several area fire department spent part of Thursday battling a big barn fire in Muskingum County.   It happened around 10:30 this morning at the Watson Farm at 2800 Arch Hill Road.  New Concord Fire Chief Brent Gates – who was the first on the scene – said when he arrived the barn was fully involved in flames.  Gates says the owner had equipment, tractors, golf carts, tires and he stored his sheep’s wool in the barn – which was all lost.  Chief Gates estimates the damage at around 100-thousand dollars. The cause of the blaze has not been determined.  Gates says the Perry Township Fire Department will investigate the official cause of the fire. Gates says fire fighters used around 7000 gallons of water to battle the blaze.  The Muskingum County Water Department says residents in the area of Arch Hill Road may experience low pressure or discolored water due to the fire.
