Muskingum County Bridge Repairs Set for Summer

Some bridges in Muskingum County will be getting a overhaul this construction season.

On Monday, Matt Russell, from the Muskingum County Engineers Office spoke to Commissioners on two major bridge improvement plans.

The most expensive plan calls for a replacement of the Roseville Bridge on Main Street, costing an estimated 1.5 million dollars.

"From the ground up, that's just the whole bridge-- abutments, super structure, sub-structure, everything, and there are piers involved which would be in between the abutments, so yeah, that's the entire bridge," said Russell.

The other bridge on the construction list is the County Road 148/Shannon Road Bridge, which is estimated at just under 1 million dollars to complete.

Russell said during construction, both of these bridges will result in road closures and detours for motorists.

"There will be detours posted, and there will be closure on these bridges, because of the nature of the work, we won't allow traffic to cross them while they're being built. It won't be a part width construction-- half and half, it will be a closure so you will have to route around," added Russell.

Russell said bids for these bridge projects will go out on June 14th.

He hopes the bridges will be completed by the end of construction season.
