It's time to announce the Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project's featured artist of the month.

Joan Quinn spends her time at Fox Creek Studio in New Concord.  She works in many mediums including drawing, painting, sculpting and ceramics.

"I think my favorite Christmas present was always a box of crayons," said Quinn.  "I can't remember a time when I didn't want to be an artist."

Quinn said her art reflects a love of nature and life on a farm.  She taught art in the East Muskingum School District for 23 years.

"The kids are really enthusiastic and artistic," said Quinn.  "It's a good system, very supportive, and it's my community."

Quinn's work will be on display Friday night from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Z.A.A.P. gallery in downtown Zanesville.
