Ten well-known figures in Zanesville agreed to have whipped cream thrown in their faces Wednesday...
As part of an Operation Feed fundraiser, ten local "celebrities" were chosen to be pied in the face on the steps of the Muskingum County Courthouse.
"We got this idea to have 12 celebrities, I think we're down to 10 right now, do a pie in the face, and we sold tickets at each of their agencies. And I think so far, we're at about 500 dollars in ticket sales," said Muskingum County Children's Services' June Smith.
Tickets were sold at one for a dollar or 6 for 5 dollars. Those who were chosen to throw the pies were randomly selected in the ticket drawing. Smith said she hopes this will become an annual fundraiser.
"This is the first time we've done it on this big of a scale. We tried it at our office a few years ago and it went pretty well, so we tried to upscale it a bit this year."
Some celebrities included Zanesville Mayor Jeff Tilton, Sheriff Matt Lutz, Muskingum County Assistant Prosecutor Maria Kalis, and Chamber of Commerce President Tom Poorman. Proceeds benefit the Operation Feed campaign.
