An organization is celebrating 100 years of giving back to the community.
The Zanesville Moose Lodge was instituted on January 20, 1912. On Friday members reflected on its century-long history. Organizer Carolyn Arbuckle said guests enjoyed free food and entertainment.
"We have Tommy Moose that we're going to give to Sheriff Matt Lutz, so he can give them to children that are in the hospital or get taken away from their parents," said Arbuckle. "He can use them however he wants for community service. We also have the Community Action Baby Pantry and Starlight Miracle League coming."
Arbuckle said the lodge presented service awards to Sheriff Matt Lutz, former Mayor "Butch" Zwelling and former Fire Chief Dave Lacy. Organizer Dick Schmidt said he's proud to be a part of this group.
"I just stopped in one day to become a member, and I've been a member ever since," said Schmidt. "I've been Santa every year for 13 years. I don't go anywhere else but right here."
The lodge is holding a free event for kids with karaoke, face painting and a bounce house on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
