Hundreds of people are taking advantage of a food giveaway.
The parking lot at Eastside Community Ministry was packed as volunteers passed out produce and other groceries. Interim Director Anna Marie Katt said the items were donated by the Mid-Ohio Foodbank.
"The only qualification is that they have to sign a sheet that has an income guideline," said Katt. "They can take as much food for as many people in the household."
Katt said it's a great way for families to put nutritious meals on the table. This is the first time Eastside Community Ministry has held the event.
"We have to take a deep breath, but it's been a fun day," said Katt. "Luckily, the weather held up, because it's hot, but at least we didn't get any rain, so that's good. I think we would certainly consider doing it again."
More than 20 volunteers helped make the giveaway possible.
