A woman was taken to the hospital after crashing into a power pole Tuesday afternoon.

Muskingum County Sheriff's Lieutenant Mike LeCocq told WHIZ News that the Sheriff's Office received numerous calls about an elderly woman driving erratic while traveling northbound on Maple Avenue.

About 5 minutes later, it was reported that the woman went left of center and crashed head-on into a power pole near the intersection of State Route 60 and Olde Falls Road.

LeCocq said the woman is identified as 51-year-old Kim Duty of Zanesville.

Duty was the only occupant of the car and was taken to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital with minor injuries

AEP officials arrived on the scene and determined the damage to the pole was minor and that the crash did not disrupt power service to anyone.

Duty was cited with failure to control.

LeCocq believed the accident may have been a result of recent changes in medication.
