It was a good atmosphere for music lovers Saturday in South Zanesville.
Seven bands from around the area took the stage for the 2nd annual Battle of the Bands at the Newton Township Fire Department on the Maysville Pike.
Promoter James Applegate said the money raised will go to support the 6th annual Military Family Festival in October at the Zanesville Municipal Airport.
"We get exhibitors to come in that have something to do with the military. It's open to military friends past and present and their families, it's just a great time. Everything is free, it's just a free event," said Applegate.
Along with music, those in attendance were able to participate in a 50/50 drawing, as well as a silent and Chinese auction.
Applegate said last year the event pulled in nearly twenty-five hundred dollars.
He added that the bands participating each bring a unique style of music to the concert.
"We have all the genres. We have old rock & roll, we have modern rock, we've got country we've got an all girl band coming from Cambridge, so, yeah we've got all the genre's of bands," added Applegate.
Trophies were awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and WHIZ's own Nichole Medaugh served as an emcee for the event.
