Dying Horses Rescued In Perry County

Eleven horses are in good hands after being left to die in Perry County.

These are the disturbing photos we received from a volunteer at WHINNY Horse Rescue in Crooksville.  The Perry County Humane Society teamed up with the Perry County Sheriff's Office to seize the horses from a residence in Hemlock, which is west of Corning.

Sergeant Pat Corder said the horses were removed Saturday evening.  All of them are malnourished.  You can see the ribs sticking out of their bodies.  Corder said the horses will be examined by a veterinarian.

The name of the owner will not be released until formal charges are filed.  He said animal neglect and cruelty charges are expected to be filed early this week.

Donations for medical treatment and food are being accepted by the humane society.  If you would like to help, call (740) 347-4233.
