Teen Pleads Not Guilty

An 18-year-old enters his plea in connection to a fatal motorcycle accident.

Joshua Sheets of Zanesville went before Judge Jay Vinsel in Muskingum County Court and plead not guilty to one count of vehicular homicide, vehicular manslaughter and failure to yield.

The charges stem from an accident on April 13 at State Route 60 and State Route 555 when authorities say the car sheets was driving struck a motorcycle driven by 53-year-old John Briggs of Zanesville.

Briggs later died from his injuries.

Judge Vinsels said that the charge of vehicular homicide carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. The vehicular manslaughter charge is a maximum 90 days in jail with a $750.00 fine and the failure to yield charge is a $150.00 fine.
