Warm Winter

It'll be a warm winter for children around the area thanks to a local organization.

The Salvation Army is preparing for their coats for kids giveaway. Donated coats are being cleaned and sorted as the event nears.

The goal is to make sure children have a warm coat when the weather turns cold.

"I think you have children come in and you see their little faces and you know that you have a part in keeping them warm in the winter it's very rewarding," said Office Coordinator Mindy McCloy. "We love watching them pick their coats up too."

David Frick from Olde Towne Cleaners brought this event to Zanesville almost 20 years ago. His company collects the coats and cleans them prior to the giveaway.

"I think it's a great service for the community because times are tough right now and I think it's nice to be able to get these coats for the kids," said David Frick president of Olde Towne Cleaners.

The Coats for Kids Giveaway will take place October 3-4 from 10a.m.-2p.m. those wanting to pick up a coat will need a picture id and social security card for everyone in the household. Coats can be dropped off at Olde Towne Cleaners or the Salvation Army.
