The cosmetology room at Mid-East was all a buzz Friday.
The room was taken over by a host of volunteers and Mid-East students helping to make over local residents looking for work. One stylist said she cleared her book for part of the morning so she could help out.
"It's nice for them to get a hair cut. A hair cut makes you feel good and that way they can get back out there," said Fabulous Styles and Cuts Kendra Gillman.
Those receiving makeovers were treated to a hair cut and a manicure. One makeover recipient is going to school and needed a more professional look.
"I think it's great. I think it's great for the community. It gives people the opportunity to get their hair done and feel glamorous," said Christina McIntire.
Mid-East instructor Lenny Rosser said the event allows his students to work with the public and learn to communicate with clients.
Friday's event was sponsored by the Muskingum County Opportunity Center.
