Nine marching bands from around the area are putting their best foot forward to qualify for a state contest.
Hundreds packed Sulsberger Stadium in Zanesville for the 50th annual "Bonanza of Bands."
It is the longest running band competition in the state of Ohio.
Zanesville Band Booster President Shane Bowden said watching bands compete against each other brings out the best in the students.
"Just to see all the different schools come in and battle against each other, have a contest to see who's better than the other and to qualify for state, because we do qualify for state," said Bowden.
Bowden said the students involved put in countless hours of work during the late summer and fall seasons and hopes those in the community will continue to support the arts.
"We go through band camp, and learning the music and learning the steps. These kids put a lot of work into this, I mean, a lot of work," said Bowden. "I can't even describe how much work these kids put into it, from the hot days to the very cold days, these kids give 110% out there."
The contest is an O.M.E.A. sanctioned event where judges score the bands based on performance and marching abilities.
