The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office is on the search for a man believed to be behind a string of robberies near Coshocton.
Sheriff's Lieutenant Dean Hettinger said 34-year old Paul Smith of Coshocton is wanted in connection with several daytime home burglaries in Keene Township.
Hettinger said while searching some property, deputies believed Smith was hiding in a house trailer, which lead to the man hunt.
"We did what we call a reverse 9-1-1 or Redhawk, to let the area residents know that we were looking for the suspect," said Hettinger. "Several people did give us some tips that were very helpful, unfortunately we were in a very rural part of our county in Keene Township and were unable to apprehend him."
The State Highway Patrol and Muskingum County Sheriff's Deputies aided in the search efforts.
Smith is described as a dark complicated white male, standing 6 feet tall, weighing 180lbs, with short brown hair, brown eyes and a tattoo on his neck.
Hettinger said He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants.
"We got some information near sunset that he was no longer in the area and possibly had called a friend and was able to leave that area," added Hettinger. "Our K-9 was unable to track any farther. He'd been on him for quite a while."
Anyone who sees Smith or anyone matching his description is urged to call 9-1-1 or the Coshocton County Sheriff's Office at (740) 622-2411.
