Energy to Help Find A Cure

The Energy Cooperative in Newark, Ohio welcomed a new propane vehicle to their fleet Wednesday, but this is no ordinary white bobtail truck.

The new lavender truck is detailed to signify the fight against cancer, with the logo "Energy to Help Find a Cure" located on both sides, along with large stripes of lavender ribbon. While the truck may turn heads, its purpose runs much deeper.

"The purpose for unveiling, that was kind of our way of kicking of our partnership with the James Cancer Hospital out of Columbus." explained Todd Ware, President and CEO. "We will be making a donation, a penny per gallon of every propane gallon delivered, back the the James Hospital for cancer research."

The Energy Cooperative currently has a pink truck on the road that specifically signifies the fight against breast cancer. One percent of proceeds from that truck go to benefit the American Breast Cancer Foundation. Ware says the company is proud to support these causes.

"One of the things I think we can all say, we've been touched by someone in our lives who's had cancer." he said. "This is a great way for us to give back. It really feels good. It really feels good that our employees care about giving back to the community as well."

For every propane delivery made by the new truck, a sticker will be left behind to let members know they too are helping to support the research behind finding the cure for cancer.
