Students took to the field at Jack Anderson Stadium in Dresden Saturday afternoon, but it wasn't for football.
Saturday marked the 25th annual Tri-Valley Band Classic. Twenty-two bands and 1500 kids participated in this years event. Tri-Valley Band Boosters President, Steve Starkey, says students walk away having learned both music and discipline.
"Our young people work very hard, they have great work ethic." said Starkey. "They're obviously very talented people. Hopefully it give them some good life lessons. They have a good instructor and good teacher, amd hopefully they can learn some things from that."
The bands were vying for trophies and state qualifications. While it is a competition, Starkey says it's good to see the students have fun.
"It's good to see that they are not bashful to demonstrate their talents in front of a crowd. They're all very talented kids. We consider it fortunate to be able to have a good program here." said Starkey.
The evening concluded with a performance by the Tri-Valley Marching Scotties band. Tri-Valley performed for ratings only.
