You may see some changes in the Muskingum County Library System in 2013.
As the new year draws near, the library is working to make evidence-based decisions about their resources. Assistant Director Blair Tom says they've seen an increase in downloadable resources year-to-date, while traditional resources have remained the same.
"They'll see, in 2013, that we will grow our digital platform access. I know that we will be looking at some growth that will be available the first quarter of next year, so we don't have firm information on that, but we met with the provider a few weeks ago." explained Tom.
The library system is also looking at adding databases that will help students, teachers, and families with the core curriculum in schools.
"We want to assure people that, even as we move forward, we honor the past and the kinds of collections that have always been valued and important." said Tom. "We will continue to have story time and book collections because reading and literacy is an essential part of our mission."
Tom says the library also wants to move forward and have reading opportunities available on devices that current generations embrace.
