A car crashed into a home in Zanesville Tuesday.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. at 928 Sharon Avenue. Shortly before the crash the Zanesville Police Department received calls about a reckless driver on Goddard street. Patrolman Alan Etters says the Buick that hit the home matched the description of the vehicle driving recklessly, leading officers to believe it's the same car. He says speed was a factor in the crash and the driver was likely intoxicated. The homeowner says she's glad her children weren't playing outside when the accident happened, but her uncle was inside the home.
"He was actually watching T.V.." said Stephanie Murgatroyd "It was actually right inside the door, so if she would have went further, she probably would have got him."
The homeowner says she's noticed that speed is a problem in the area, she also says she's noticed cars running the nearby stop sign. She expects she will need to do some repairs to her home.
"I'm going to have to fix my fence obviously, but I don't know what's going on, I don't know the situation, so I'll have to wait and see what's going on first."
No injuries were reported in the crash. Patrolman Etters says field sobriety tests were conducted and the driver was taken to the ZPD for a breathalizer test. The Zanesville Police Department will continue the investigation to determine if the driver will be cited.
