Tuesday marks one week until the general election, but the Muskingum County Board of Elections will be open this weekend for those who want to vote absentee. The Board of Elections will open its doors from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, and will be open Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m..

"If you're wanting to vote early, this is your last chance that you will be able to do it, so since we have extended the hours it does make it easier for the voters." explained Director Chris Hamill.

Hamill says right around 13,000 people have voted so far either in office or by mail. That is a slight increase from past elections.

"We had a directive come down from the Secretary of State saying that we would be in uniform with all counties and our hours would be the same." explained Hamill.

After Monday voters will no longer be able to vote absentee. The Board of Elections will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Monday. If you have a change of address and have moved within the county, Hamill says you can come into the Board of Elections to change your address and vote. If your address has not changed, you will need to go to your correct polling location.
