One of the people who was responsible for the success of the Zane Trace Commemoration in Zanesville has died.

Shirley Gardner died Tuesday after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gardner served as chairperson for the summertime celebration for 25 years. She also served at four different Zanesville City Schools for over 30 years.  She was also involved in many  community events including the Zaney Follies where she was an actress and comedian.

The Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home is handling the arrangements which include visitation Friday from 2 until 4p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.  The funeral will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Bolin Dierkes.

Gardner will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
