The recipient of the 2012 Bucci-Dietz Artist’s Award is Jane Evans.

The award is presented in memory of Ronna Bucci, a young artist, and Dr. Charles Dietz, the longtime Director of the Zanesville Art Center, from the Ronna Bucci and Dr. Charles Dietz Art Endowment Fund at the Muskingum County Community Foundation.

The presentation of the 2012 Artist’s Award took place at the Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project Gallery in downtown Zanesville Friday night during the Artist Colony of Zanesville’s "First Friday" event.

Jane Evans is a self-taught sculptor and fiber artist who works exclusively with wool which she dyes herself.  She creates felted wool two-dimensional “paintings” as well as naturalistic figures of felted wool on wire.  The inspiration for her creations comes from the beauty of the rural world in which she lives.

Evans received a monetary grant of $500 to further her career as an artist.  She plans to utilize the stipend to purchase materials to create new two-dimensional works, pay entrance fees for competitions and join professional art organizations.

The giving program of The Ronna Bucci and Dr. Charles Dietz Art Endowment Fund includes the Artist’s Award as well as an annual college scholarship awarded each spring to a student pursuing a major in the field of art.  Individuals and organizations who wish to make contributions may contact the Muskingum County Community Foundation at (740) 453-5192 or www.mccf.org.
