Another relief effort is spreading across several counties.
A Newark firefighter and his wife have established a hurricane relief fund of their own to benefit those still suffering in New York and Staten Island. Mike and Wendy Mcnamara are hoping to collect enough needed items to fill a semi.
"They need hats, coats and gloves that kind of thing. So still the food, water but then they're also asking for cleaning supplies, heavy duty garbage bags, baby wipes, baby foods. Kind of the things that we didn't think about initially but they do have a big mess in there and they're running short on cleaning supplies," said Mcnamara.
The group will begin accepting donations Friday night during the play-off game at Zanesville High School. After that, drop-off locations will be available in Nashport, Frazeysburg, Newtown Township and Newark.
"We've tentatively set a goal of the 17th to start picking stuff up and we'd like to leave around the 20th, so just about two weeks."
