Today was Kiwanis Club's annual children's Christmas party hosted at the Knights of Columbus. The event was for 60 children from Zanesville City Schools, who got to enjoy a break from classes with a pizza party, a visit from Santa and of course, presents!
Kiwanis' Youth Service Committee Chair, Bridget Tetak explained, "Actually what we do is we give the school a number of kids we are going to purchase for from the school and they see these kids everyday. They know the kids. Who maybe have something going on in their lives right now or it might be finances, so we let them choose who they think that we need to pass that joy along to."
Kiwanis focuses their service project on youth and this is a favorite event among the members. "It is the most indescribable feeling in the world because, you do a little part to make an event a big success and you get to see the joy on their faces and it just warms your heart and its a feeling like no other ," said Tetak.
The presents were personal for each child with some necessities and some fun gifts. Local key club members also helped during the lunch to make it a memorable day for the kids.
