A grand jury had indicted a retired Dayton Police Detective on charges of robbing a bank in Cambridge last month. Guernsey County Prosecutor Dan Padden says 49-year-old David Hirst is charged with aggravated robbery and kidnapping, with gun specifications, grand theft and inducing panic. Padden says Hirst handed a note to a teller at a U.S. Bank branch in Cambridge on November 1st and then fled with $60,000. Police says he had two loaded handguns when he was arrested in the bank parking lot. Several downtown blocks were evacuated after Hirst told officers he had an explosive device that later was determined to be a fake. Hirst will be arraigned in Guernsey County Common Pleas Court on December 27th at 1 p.m.
