The first baby of 2013 born in Zanesville arrived January 1st at 9:21 AM.
Meison Matthew Smith, son of glowing new parents Kali Davis and Ron Smith, was delivered much earlier than expected.
Davis said, "Well he is actually two weeks early, he was due on the thirteenth and we were in bed New Year's Eve and 4:30 in the morning I woke up and told him "Hey my water just broke, we need to get going to the hospital" and at 9:21 we had him! "
Weighing 7 lbs 3 oz. was a quick and short labor for a first born baby, which pleased mom, who said her pregnancy was not a cake walk, suffering from back pain and morning sickness.
"It's definitely the best New Year's gift ever," Davis said. "Definitely."
Smith added, "Yes, greatest way to start out the new year. I can't think of a better way."
"Not at all," said Davis.
The parents are so thrilled their bundle of joy has brough their new family together for the new year.
