Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Begins

Zanesville's tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. kicked off Friday with an Ethnic Food Fair at Zane State College's Campus Center.

Culinary students created the menu that featured food from all over the world. Each cultural cuisine included an entree, two sides and a dessert.

Under the direction of Chef Marco Adornetto the students began planning for this day months in advance.

"We start way back in October and set the menu up the second year students do so this week is really crunch week. Monday it starts coming in,Tuesday start prepping and now we're starting to bring it all together," said Adornetto.

The culinary students appreciate the chance to not only show off their skills but they're honored to be the ones to kick off this weekend dedicated to Martin Luther King Jr.

"That makes us feel really good because food brings everybody together. It's kind of like the weather, they talk about food. There's different ethnic dishes we're doing and what a great weekend to bring all this, all together," said Adornetto.

Later this weekend, there will be a Singsperation on Sunday at John McIntire Library and the MLK celebration will wrap up on Monday with a Prayer Breakfast at Hallowed Hills.
