Zanesville Police said an incident on Larzelere Avenue is under investigation.
It happened around 11 p.m. Monday at the Larzelere Apartments, which is part of the Zanesville Metropolitan Housing Authority. Police said it was first reported as a stabbing, but the investigation revealed otherwise.
"It doesn't look like there was an actual stabbing," said Captain Tony Coury of the Zanesville Police Department. "There was a reported assault. Officers were able to follow some footprints at 499 Larzelere, but lost them in the Luck Avenue area."
Captain Coury said two females were in the apartment when they heard a knock at the door. One of the women thought she recognized the man and opened the door.
"She said when he came in the door there was some pushing and hitting and they also reported a little money stolen from the coffee table, but other than that we don't have much to go on," explained Coury.
No serious injuries were reported. The women said the man was a black male wearing a grey hoody and had dreadlocks. The case has been assigned to a detective.
