Barriers and ways to help improve the income of those in the community are under discussion.
The United Way is hosting a meeting that will focus around income goals in Perry, Muskingum and Morgan counties. At the meeting the United Way will share about what they are doing to improve the finances of residents and will ask for feedback on what can be done to create a better community partnership.
"Some of those ideas we can be a part of and we can't necessarily be a part of everything and we can't necessarily be involved in everything, but we want to hear those ideas," explained Community Impact Coordinator for the United Way Amy Davis. "If we can't maybe there's a program or agency that we help support that we can help connect the dots within the community as well."
During this meeting they'd like to hear from government officials, people that run programs to help residents find jobs and those that are involved in finance.
"Our goal really is to get to the root of the problem and fix that and to be proactive and then maybe not have to be so reactive with the safety services nets down the road," said Davis.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 29, at the MCBI Regional Incubator for Entrepreneurs on Pinkerton Lane in South Zanesville. The meeting will begin at 8 p.m. The United Way asks that you RSVP by calling their office or 2-1-1.
