Coconis Furniture is receiving national recognition for its business and community achievements.
The National Homes Furnishings Association has announced that Coconis Furniture is one of their retailers of the year for 2013. The prestigious award is presented annually to those recipients who show outstanding contributions to the home furnishings industry, exemplary service to the community and personal business achievements.
"We give back to the community and charities and everything like that, they look at all that. Obviously the Dick Johnson Civic Leadership Award a couple years ago that I won played a part of that and everything but it's basically how you treat your employees, how you treat your customers, how you treat your community you live in," said Randy Coconis.
Randy took over the business in 1981 and under his leadership the store has grown from six employees to sixty and is one of Ohio's largest independent furniture retailers.
"Our store has grown from 5,000 feet to now nearly over 70,000 square feet and we've added a second store, we've built a new warehouse so obviously in my tenure there's been a lot of changes and a lot of growth but without the dedicated employees that I have many have been with us over 20 years and everything wouldn't be possible," said Coconis.
Coconis will receive the award during the National Home Furnishings Association Awards Gala in North Carolina on April 22nd.
