Earlier today, hundreds of people stopped by the John McIntire Library to learn and tell their family stories about the 1913 flood. There were photographs, newspapers, a panel discussion and movie in remembrance of the tragic event.
"We're delighted that over 200 people have come already and just such great comments and feedback. Connecting to resources that in the future we'll be able to catalog. So when people are researching or have stories, we'll be able to connect all of those. We've had a wonderful turnout and a lot of enthusiasm so we're really pleased."
The library collected more information, photographs and memorabilia from today's event in hopes of making a permanent exhibit for it in the future. This is just one of the many events that are going on in Zanesville in remembrance of the flood.
"On the 16th, we will have a program presented by Tom Brown in the auditorium at 1 o'clock with over 79 images. And then on the 23rd there will be an unveiling of the markers that will appear around Zanesville and Muskingum County marking different points where the flood had damaged and had a real significant height."
