Contractors met with the Muskingum County Commissioners this afternoon to compete for a local renovation project.
The renovation of The Muskingum County Jobs and Family Services has been in the works for months on the Woodlawn Avenue building, in order to move all employees under one roof.
Architect, Pat Kelly said, "The project will involve renovations of about 4,000 square feet of the building with a new handicap accessible entry and restrooms and then computer laps, where folks can come search for jobs or employers can meet with potential candidates for jobs."
This afternoon potential contractors submitted blind bids to the commissioners in hopes to be awarded a contract for the renovation.
"Contractors submitted bids and it looked like we had about 10 bidders with ranges from $174,000 to $250,000. Our cost estimate was $240,000 so we are well within what we estimated this project to cost. "
Kelly said his team will evaluate the lowest bidders to be sure everything that needed to be covered was and make a recommendation to the commissioners and award a contract to the lowest bidder to be most cost effective.
