Some local girl scouts learn what it takes to be a leader.
The scouts are taking part in a three day leadership journey that uses activities to teach them the skills they need to be successful. The event focuses on working as a team. It began Friday with outdoor team activities.
"I think for the girls it's making friends. They learn the skills. They make new friends. A lot of these girls didn't even know each other when they got here and a lot of them were exchanging numbers on Friday," said Community Development Manager Kayla Davis.
Davis said she hopes the girls have fun through the event.
"I think that through Girl Scouts they can learn skill activities," said Davis. "The leadership portion is really good because we make our leaders for tomorrow."
The spring break event ends Tuesday.
