A young girl is getting the chance to take a trip that many only dream about.
Adamsville Elementary Fifth Grade student Mackenzie Clark has been accepted to be part of the "People to People Student Ambassador Program. She'll take a 19 day trip to Europe this summer that includes stops in England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
Her trip will focus on gaining exposure to world cultures, societies and environments. It's an exciting trip for someone seeking adventure.
"When I grow up I want to be a traveler like around the world and do photography," said Mackenzie Clark.
She'll get some great photos as she takes a ride on the London Eye and a behind the scenes look at Buckingham Palace. Mackenzie's mom said the trip will greatly benefit not only her daughter, but all the students going.
"Usually 90 percent of the students that travel with people to people get in to their first church colleges and the older kids it counts as a college credit," said Tascha Clark. "For Mackenzie unfortunately it is not because she's just in elementary school, but some of the high school kids get college credit for it."
Mackenzie must raise $7,000 for the trip. To help with the costs she's holding a spaghetti dinner fundraiser Friday April 5 at Adamsville Elementary school from 6-8 p.m. Cost of the meal is a donation towards her trip. They'll also be a silent auction including Columbus Zoo and Zoombezi Bay tickets, sports passes to Tri-Valley sporting events and many crafts. There will also be a gun raffle.
If you would like to make a donation towards Mackenzie's trip contact Tascha Clark at (740) 624-8531.
