Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says a West Muskingum student confessed to writing and delivering the third threatening letter to the high school on Friday.
"The school has received three letters in the last three days. The first two were similar in nature, the third was different. Through the great job of the school and our detectives, a suspect was developed through some interviews. The suspect did confess earlier today to the third letter, but not to the first two," said Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz.
Two deputies were sent to the school to show a presence and make the students, staff and parents feel more secure. Sheriff Lutz says they take every threat seriously and will continue to investigate the two letters sent to the middle school.
"We are continuing to work on the few leads that we have. We can't really discuss a whole lot at this point. There wasn't a whole lot to go off of as I said and I think the school released yesterday that the letters did come through the mail so that was hard to track."
Sheriff Lutz says they can't release any more information at this time. Anyone with information on the threatening letters is encouraged to call the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office at 740-452-3637
