An exercise class is helping people in Zanesville fight back against a serious disease.
Delay the Disease is a class specifically catering to the needs of people with Parkinson's Disease. The class helps improve the physical symptoms of the disease including tremors, flexibility and stability. David Zid, author of Delay the Disease taught the group different exercises today which they plan to use in their everyday lives.
" The jump, I never had done that before and it really loosens you up. Everyone he did with us today has a certain bearing and what the secret is to do it regularly," class member Dan Hennessey said.
Members in the class said coming here gives them a chance to interact with other people with the disease and motivates them to keep improving.
"If you have Parkinson's face it head on and think about coming to exercise here each week because it is an excellent program with excellent instructors, " class member, Carol Gable said.
The classes are through Genesis Healthcare and take place every Tuesday from ten a.m. to eleven a.m.. at North Terrace Church of Christ.
