Zanesville residents stopped by the Muskingum County Court house Saturday from 2-4 p.m. to hear the bible told.
"Our founding father's founded this nation on the word of God and with God and through God and I am so thankful that we can still gather together one day a year and lift our voices to God in prayer," said Ruth Divincenzo, organizer for the event.
The day of prayer was established 63-years ago to dedicate one day out of the year where people could come together from different communities and pray.
"I'm hoping some day that we will fill Zanesville High School auditorium, the whole football stadium with people coming to pray for guidance for our leaders, for protection, for the firefighters, the police and sheriff's departments."
The official day of prayer is Thursday, May 2.
