A Zanesville man charged with attempted murder has been found not competent to stand trial. The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office says that 26-year-old Kerron Brantley is also charged with felonious assault, breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools and tampering with evidence. On February 27th Brantley pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity in connection with the stabbing of a woman at a Newark Road church in February. The Prosecutors’ Office says Brantley will be placed at the Moritz Center in Columbus for a period of up to one year in an attempt to restore the defendant to competency. The Court says it has been determined that the defendant is unable to assist in his defense.
