The business roundtable meeting was held at the Producers Service Corporation in Zanesville Tuesday afternoon. Treasurer Mandel talked about how he believes the oil and gas industry will help lead the economic comeback for Ohio.
"I see oil and gas as a great opportunity to create jobs in Muskingum County and throughout eastern Ohio and it's one of the reasons why I'm so passionate about creating a better environment for job creation within the energy industry," said Mandel.
Mandel also gave an update on how things are going in Columbus and says oil and gas production in southeastern Ohio isn't just about jobs.
"As a Marine Corp veteran who did a couple tours in Iraq, I also see oil and gas drilling as a national security issue and the more that we can depend on blue collar workers and families in Ohio rather than depend on radical Islamic countries in the Middle East, the stronger and safer we'll be as Americans."
Mandel will travel back to the state house Tuesday and says he's excited to get back to his wife and newborn baby girl.
