The State Highway Patrol released the names of those involved in a double fatal interstate accident Sunday.
Authorities are still investigating the crash that killed 25-year-old Tamara Carnes of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and 27-year-old Omar Lawson of McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
The patrol said that they responded to the accident near Norwich just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Troopers said that the Ford Explorer the two were driving in was traveling on Interstate 70 West when it went into the median, went airborne before overturning and going into the eastbound lanes.
One occupant was totally ejected from the vehicle, the other partially ejected. Interstate 70 eastbound was shut down west of the crash scene for over three hours during the investigation and clean up.
Lt. Matt Boyd said speed may have played a factor in the crash.
The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Muskingum County Coroner's Office, the New Concord Fire and EMS and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
