Two years ago Zanesville lost one of its youngest members.

Grant Hickman was 14 years old when he lost his life. The Zanesville High School Freshman's memory lives on through Run4Grant, a 5K race started by his parents in his honor.

"He was just a great kid with a big heart, he respected everybody. He had tons of friends not only from Zanesville, Tri-Valley, West Muskingum, Rosecrans. It's not just a loss for us it's a loss for the whole community," said his father.

The run raised enough money to award ten scholarships to area teens last year and hopes to do the same this year. There will be a silent auction at the event and memorabilia for Grant that runners can purchase. Committee Chair of the event, Caren McCoy says they want to expand the event.

"We really are trying to bring in more community participants from Coshocton, Guernsey ,Perry County and Morgan County and as well as Muskingum County, "said McCoy.

The event will take place Saturday June 1st starting at 9 a.m.. The entry fee is $20 and goes towards the Grant Hickman Foundation.
