Police officers responded to a call around 10:45 p.m. Monday night about a Maysville High School bus that was coming back from a graduation trip and was shot at near the 200 block of Brighton Boulevard.
"Right now we believe it's going to be maybe a pellet gun or BB gun, or a very small caliber weapon," said Captain Tony Coury.
Capt. Coury says he is not sure how many shots were fired but confirmed that one bullet struck a window, which sent a female student to Good Samaritan Hospital to be treated for glass in her eye. Capt. Coury says they do not have any suspects at this time but explained the department is taking the shooting very seriously.
"We do have officers actively interviewing and going door-to-door over there today and trying to determine where the shot had come from and who might be responsible."
Capt. Coury says the main focus is to find out who did this and why. Anyone with information is asked to call the Zanesville Police Department.
