It's' time to take to the side roads and pick up some deals all the way from Baltimore, Maryland to St. Louis, Missouri.
The six state National Road Yard Sale hopes to lure motorists from the interstate onto the first federally funded highway. The yard sales being Wednesday in some areas.
"It's a wonderful way to talk about the great attractions and stores and restaurants along the National Road, but also a perfect way to get lots of bargains and sales and just enjoy the history of the National Road," said Vice President of Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce Kelly Ashby.
Ashby said events like this draw attention to the history of the roadway often overlooked.
"It's one of the greatest things that we talk about," said Ashby. "We have a National Road/Zane Grey Museum dedicated to the history of the National Road, first federally funded highway and major route that goes through downtown Zanesville, Main Street and so it's just a great way to talk about the history of Muskingum County."
While sales do begin Wednesday in some areas, in Muskingum County the majority of sales will take place June 1 in what's being called super Saturday.
Those looking to take part that don't live on the National Road can rent tables at the National Road/Zane Grey Museum.
