Need ideas for things to do with the family this summer season.

The Muskingum County Library System is offering some ideas with a staycation display. It features things to do and see in our area and the state, visitors guides and plenty of information.

"It really takes some of the effort out of planning. They are idea starters," said Assistant Director Blair Tom. "They give really specific information about things children will enjoy or the lines will be long so you'll want to plan on that."

Tom said last summer one of the top books check out during summer was Weird Ohio that tells you all about the odd places to see in the state. The library is even making itself a destination with lots of summer programing. It kicks off this weekend with summer reading sign up.

"We will have free balloon animals from 11:30-12:30, temporary tattoos in the lobby for children. They get beads when they register as well as coupons from area businesses, so lots of fun," said Tom.

The summer reading kick-off takes place this Saturday at John McIntire Library from 11-1 p.m.
