Despite the weather not hitting as hard as expected, emergency crews remained on high alert throughout the night.
The storms predicted hit further north and bypassed Zanesville, however the Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency continued to assess the storm situation as it passed through our area.
"We monitored the weather stations and of course we have notifications that come through to us for any warnings of any counties around us and our county, " said Emergency Director, Bo Keck.
There are variety of tasks the EMA performs if they believe weather will be dangerous or damaging to residents.
" Last night a little after 11 o'clock we did set the tornados sirens for a tornado warning in the northeast section. we did a everbridge, a reverse 911 notification to that section of the community also," said Keck.
Keck urges the public to use media outlets as a reference for potential bad weather and refrain from calling the sheriff's department or police station because it ties up their lines in case of a serious emergency.
